Monica Singh Soares is a trailblazing leader, minister, entrepreneur, and provincially recognized wedding officiant. She is the founder of Rise Up and Soar Community, a registered charity dedicated to youth empowerment, literacy, and cultural inclusion, and the founder of Soaring Ceremonies, serving couples across Ontario.
Elected as the first South Asian councillor in the Township of Southgate, Monica has been a strong advocate for transit, education, accessibility, and inclusive community growth. She spearheaded the regional expansion of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and launched the “Light It Up” campaign, a movement that continues to inspire awareness and inclusion.
Monica also serves as Chair of the RPA Women Entrepreneurs Awards, is a Rotarian, literacy champion, Grey County Reads winner, and mentor with Junior Achievement. She has a lifelong love of the arts and music as a trumpet player herself and is proud to see that passion continue in her daughter’s own love of music.
Beyond her public service, Monica is a proud wife and mother of two, balancing her professional life with her commitment to faith, family, and community. She lives by her motto “Soaring Together” , breaking barriers, rising as a leader, and lifting others as she leads.
