Teacher/Music Mentor

Vibrant and enthusiastic teachers needed to provide lessons and music mentorship to students of all levels from beginner to advanced in Piano, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Voice and Violin, Viola, Cello and Saxophone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare lessons and examination syllabuses in relation to individual students’ needs.
  • Teach music theory, aural skills and practical techniques to students, incorporating RCM and CCM curriculum as required.
  • Prepare students for examinations and submit names of prepared students for RCM and CCM examinations as required.
  • Motivate, mentor and encourage students.
  • Liaise with staff and parents for the success of ALL students actively enrolled at The Academy – Zamar Music Inc.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements.
  • Assess students’ abilities, provide feedback and write reports.
  • Work with the staff to arrange end of semester recitals and concerts for students’, families and friends.

 

What’s required from our instructors:

  • Teaching one-on-one lessons lasting from 30 minutes to 60 minutes
  • Incorporate techniques and theory in every lesson
  • Building a strong relationship with the students to better help them succeed
  • Give brief feedback to parents at the end of every lesson
  • Occasional team get together

Qualifications

You are the perfect candidate if you are:

  • An individual who is reliable, patient, energetic, open-minded and enjoys working with children
  • Able to work independently with limited to no supervision
  • Able to personalize the lesson to each student’s needs accordingly
  • Able to teach technique and repertoire in a fun, engaging manner
  • Highly organized and effective in time management 
  • Deeply passionate about education and want to make a difference in other people’s lives
  • Proficient in sight reading and able to demonstrate instrument-specific technique to students is an added bonus.

Education

BA in Music or Up to a Grade 8 Level RCM Practical and Theory OR equivalent.

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant at Zamar Music Inc. will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the organization. They will work closely with the staff to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the organization. Their strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail will be essential in maintaining accurate records, managing schedules, providing effective administrative support and providing great customer care to the community we serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking and ensuring messages are passed to the appropriate staff member in time
  • Greet and make all who enter the facility feel welcomed.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and events.
  • Maintain an organized electronic filing system for documents, records, and correspondence.
  • Prepare various documents including memos, letters, reports, presentations, and forms as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Assist in coordinating logistics for meetings and events including room reservations, refreshments/catering arrangements, and audiovisual equipment setup.
  • Managing office inventory such as stationery, equipment and furniture
  • Handle incoming/outgoing mail distribution ensuring timely delivery and processing
  • Perform general clerical tasks such as photocopying, faxing, scanning, filing, and data entry as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining contact databases within MMS and MailChimp and updating contact information as required.
  • Maintaining safety and hygiene standards of the reception area

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a Customer Service role is preferred.
  • Good telephone communication etiquette
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in using My Music Staff (MMS) (our online studio management software) is preferred
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for executing focused communications, digital media, and public relations initiatives to promote Zamar Music Inc.’s programs, events, and community impact. This role will support the development of foundational communication systems while strengthening Zamar Music Inc.’s storytelling, brand visibility, and engagement within the community.

The Communications Specialist will play an important role in delivering structured communications outputs within an 8-week period while helping establish tools and workflows that support long-term communications growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit press releases, blog posts, and program highlights for summer activities.
  • Develop weekly social media content calendars and create engaging posts across platforms.
  • Prepare template-based written content including artist bios, captions, and newsletter blurbs that can be reused throughout the year.
  • Assist in developing a 6-month communications roadmap.
  • Identify key messaging themes for programs, events, and partnerships.
  • Build foundational systems such as templates, schedules, and writing guides to support consistent communications.
  • Manage Zamar Music Inc.’s social media platforms daily, including posting content, responding to engagement, and tracking performance metrics.
  • Support the organization of digital assets by creating structured archives and content tracking systems.
  • Develop and maintain a digital asset library to support future content creation.
  • Research and build a regional media contact list.
  • Draft introductory outreach emails to media contacts.
  • Support preparation of interview briefs and media materials for events or features.
  • Develop a refreshed newsletter template and produce at least one newsletter issue.
  • Collect stories, photos, and updates from program staff to support communications initiatives.
  • Assist in refining internal communication systems to improve information sharing across teams.
  • Support storytelling initiatives that highlight Zamar Music Inc.’s programs, artists, and community partnerships.
  • Ensure all communications materials adhere to Zamar Music Inc.’s branding, tone, and visual identity guidelines.
  • Track communications and social media analytics and compile performance insights.
  • Produce a final 8-week report highlighting achievements, engagement trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide recommendations to support long-term communications growth and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Studying or completed a diploma/degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Experience managing social media platforms in a professional or volunteer capacity.
  • Basic understanding of media relations, public relations, and branding.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a creative, fast-paced, community-centered environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple small projects within a short timeline.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Meta Business Suite, Google Workspace, and basic analytics tools is an asset.
  • Interest or experience in arts, culture, community programming, or music education is an asset.

Social Media Coordinator

The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive social media strategies to promote Zamar Music Inc.’s brand and engage with our target audiences. They will play a crucial role in building our online presence and establishing Zamar Music Inc. as a valued presence in the Canadian music industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic social media plans across various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Create engaging content (including graphics, videos, and written posts) that aligns with our brand image and resonates with our target audiences.
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy to ensure Zamar Music Inc. remains at the forefront of digital marketing.
  • Develop creative campaigns that effectively drive user engagement, increase our following, enhance brand awareness, and generate leads.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Public Relations, Content Creation, and Graphic Design to ensure cohesive brand messaging across all digital channels.
  • Manage our social media editorial calendar to ensure timely delivery of content while maintaining consistency in tone and quality.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reach, engagement rates, conversions etc., using analytical tools and produce monthly reports – highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in social media management.

Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Social Media Coordinator or similar role within the music industry (experience in an educational institution will be an added advantage).
  • Solid understanding of different social media platforms’ dynamics, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills and an eye for compelling visual content.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media management and analytics tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.
