    Role Summary
    This Director champions Zamar’s fundraising and revenue-diversification efforts at the board level, helping build the donor, sponsor, and grant relationships that fuel sustainability and growth.

    Core Responsibilities (Required of All Directors)

    • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (minimum 75% attendance)
    • Review materials in advance and come prepared to contribute to discussion and decision-making
    • Fulfill governance responsibilities, including motions, approvals, and strategic oversight
    • Act as an ambassador for Zamar Music Inc. within your networks and communities
    • Uphold organizational values, including equity, respect, and professionalism


    Contributions & Engagement (Expected of All Directors)

    • Make introductions that support Zamar’s development — donors, sponsors, partners (Target: 3–5 meaningful introductions annually)
    • Attend and support organizational events — concerts, showcases, community activations (Target: 1–2 events annually; Board presence is expected across all major events)
    • Amplify Zamar’s work through personal and professional networks
    • Contribute strategic insight aligned with your expertise


    Capacity & Accountability

    • Participate in fundraising at the board level — supporting campaigns, cultivating relationships, and helping convert interest into support
    • Board giving: Directors are strongly encouraged to make a personal annual contribution at a level that is meaningful to them, with no fixed minimum or maximum; what matters is full participation
    • Help raise awareness of who Zamar is and what we do, bringing new stakeholders into the fold
    • Be present and visible at Zamar events as a representative of the Board
    • Participate in an annual board self-assessment and disclose any conflicts of interest


    Role-Specific Responsibilities

    • Help shape and support the annual fundraising and development strategy alongside the Executive Director
    • Support donor and sponsor cultivation, stewardship, and major campaigns (e.g., founding-member and legacy giving initiatives)
    • Open doors to prospective funders, sponsors, and partners, and support the “ask” where appropriate
    • Help model and encourage strong board giving and full board participation in fundraising
    • Lead or co-lead the fundraising/development working group
    • Support grant identification and the case for support in partnership with staff


    Leadership & Engagement Opportunities

    This Director is well positioned to lead the fundraising working group, mentor staff on development, and contribute to strategic planning around revenue and sustainability.

    Suggested Time Commitment: Approximately 6–10 hours per month, higher during active campaigns and grant cycles.


    Qualifications

    • Experience in fundraising, development, sales, sponsorship, or donor relations
    • Comfort cultivating relationships and making asks
    • A network that can be activated on Zamar’s behalf is a strong asset
