Dr. John Castillo

    Dr. John P Castillo is a Trinidadian born Social Justice Educator, Scholar, Researcher, and Vocal Music Specialist. He holds a Ph.D. from the department of Social Justice Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. His research examines Black masculinity and its intersections with African epistemologies and ontologies, gender, race and representation. He holds an M. Ed. degree in Curriculum Studies, a B.F.A (Spec Hons. classical voice), and a B. Ed from York University. Dr. Castillo also holds specializations in Guidance and Career Education, Music, and Special Education, teaches vocal music at Mayfield Secondary, presents at graduate student conferences, has delivered presentations in the GTA, is a motivational speaker, workshop facilitator, and education consultant. Dr. Castillo is also a classically trained tenor who enjoys cooking and interior decorating. Building community and giving back is something Dr. Castillo describes as filling his cup.
