    Role Summary
    This Director provides governance-level guidance on people, culture, and human-resources matters, helping Zamar build a healthy, equitable, and well-supported team as it grows.

    Core Responsibilities (Required of All Directors)

    • Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (minimum 75% attendance)
    • Review materials in advance and come prepared to contribute to discussion and decision-making
    • Fulfill governance responsibilities, including motions, approvals, and strategic oversight
    • Act as an ambassador for Zamar Music Inc. within your networks and communities
    • Uphold organizational values, including equity, respect, and professionalism


    Contributions & Engagement (Expected of All Directors)

    • Make introductions that support Zamar’s development — donors, sponsors, partners (Target: 3–5 meaningful introductions annually)
    • Attend and support organizational events — concerts, showcases, community activations (Target: 1–2 events annually; Board presence is expected across all major events)
    • Amplify Zamar’s work through personal and professional networks
    • Contribute strategic insight aligned with your expertise


    Capacity & Accountability

    • Participate in fundraising at the board level — supporting campaigns, cultivating relationships, and helping convert interest into support
    • Board giving: Directors are strongly encouraged to make a personal annual contribution at a level that is meaningful to them, with no fixed minimum or maximum; what matters is full participation
    • Help raise awareness of who Zamar is and what we do, bringing new stakeholders into the fold
    • Be present and visible at Zamar events as a representative of the Board
    • Participate in an annual board self-assessment and disclose any conflicts of interest


    Role-Specific Responsibilities

    • Advise the Board and Executive Director on HR policy, employment practices, and workplace culture
    • Support development of staffing frameworks, compensation philosophy, and volunteer/intern program structures at the governance level
    • Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion in hiring, retention, and culture
    • Support performance-management and professional-development frameworks
    • Help guide the Executive Director’s review process and leadership-succession planning
    • Lead or co-lead an HR/people working group as needed


    Leadership & Engagement Opportunities

    This Director may lead the people/HR working group, advise staff on organizational development, and contribute to policy development and strategic planning.

    Suggested Time Commitment: Approximately 5–8 hours per month, higher during hiring cycles, policy development, or organizational change.


    Qualifications

    • Background in HR, people operations, organizational development, or employment matters
    • Familiarity with employment standards and EDI best practices
    • Sound judgment and the ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality
    • Commitment to the mission and vision of Zamar Music Inc.
